Photoshoot for AClass English

Well the ball has been set in motion. The 'models' have been booked and the photographer secured. Now all we can do is hope for good weather tomorrow. The shoot will use real students where possible. In fact I am going to be teaching English at one point so that they can get some good shots of the classrooms.

Once the shoot is over, it shouldn't be too long before we can start sending it out to our agents abroad. Learning English should be fun and professional. AClass wants to reflect this in their brochure.

AClass Reception Desk and Logo

Well, it has been a busy morning here at AClass Academy of English. Before students come to Malta to learn English with us we need to make sure the school looks its best. Bad Boy cleaners have been washing all the glass and polishing the floors. The reception desk arrived this morning and is looking great. Moreover the logos have finally arrived. They look even better than I imagined. I think we have one of the nicest, if not the best English language school in Malta.

Pierre is back from the fair in London!

Well I saw two rainbows on my way to work this morning so I am hoping for a good week. Pierre bounced in full of beans having spent the last week in London at a fair. It seems to have been productive and he came back with plenty of ideas and some useful contacts for AClass Academy of English.

Now we just need to get the AClass Academy of English website up and running. We have finally (drum roll please) chosen a great company. I have seen their work before and they offer competitive prices and good after sales service which is very important.

Anyhow I am back to doing some more research before meeting some book suppliers later on this week.

Will update you all at the end of the week.

Learn English in Malta with AClass

Just a quick hello to keep everyone up to speed. Currently, Pierre our Marketing director is away looking at various countries and markets to target and promote our school to.

Meanwhile back here I am holding fort. Looking at our competitors to see what they are doing right and wrong when it comes to English courses, language schools in Malta and learning English in general in Malta. My aim is to be humble and to learn from them and their mistakes.
After all, we all have to start somewhere don't we ?

I have seen so many English grammar mistakes on peoples websites it makes me worried. I know it's easy to slip up, but don't these people proof read ? In fact I am rather worried that I will have tons of mistakes. Please point any out should you notice them.

On a blog like this it is not as important however, you would think that on an English Language School website, it would be rather a different story :)

Dunno, does anyone have any thoughts on this one ?

Learning English in Malta with AClass Academy of English

Phew, well it has been another busy week. The classrooms are almost ready and the signs have been ordered. The parquet is in and I must say the school is looking impressive. Students studying at AClass Academy of English are going to be impressed.

The classrooms are huge compared to some schools I have seen and worked for. So far we have 8 classrooms but there is plenty of room to expand later on. The entertainment room has been painted and so has the internet cafe. In fact, we are now just waiting for the doors and signs to go up. Then I can start ordering books and resources for AClass' student library and the teachers' staff room.

Now, we just need to get our name out there: Come learn English with AClass in Malta !!

AClass English Malta and Language fairs

AClass Academy of English, Malta plans on going to the ICEF Berlin Fair 2009. This is the place for English Language Schools like AClass to meet quality agents to represent this school. This is where schools pitch their products to agents. ICEF BERLIN is not for the fainthearted. I now plan on making sure www.aclassenglish.com is targeting the right kinds of markets and that we provide easy terms and a quality service to now only students learning English in Malta but also language agents interested in working with AClass Academy of English Malta.

Setting up AClass School of English, an exciting time.

Well, this is my first attempt at keeping a blog so please be kind with your initial comments.
I guess I should start by introducing myself and what I do.

My name is Elizabeth Camilleri and I am 31 years old. I have just started help set up a brand new English School in Malta called AClass. It is something really exciting for me as I have been involved in EFL for over 11 years but I've never been entrusted with a project this big.

Pierre, Marketing Manager of AClass and I, on behalf of the Midolo family, are hoping to get the school open by Easter 2009. The school is situated in Pembroke and forms past of St Catherine's school which has over 100 years of teaching to its name. AClass is going to take over the bottom floor and takes a maximum of 105 students at one time.
So far, the classrooms have been built, walls have been painted, air conditioner have been installed and the furniture and the books for the students and the teachers have been ordered. Our biggest challenge is the website.

AClass Academy of English doesn't have a site yet and it seems to be taking forever to sift through proposals from various web building companies. Besides they seem to cost an arm and a leg. So much so we are thinking of contracting the work out.

Till then, Pierre and I are doing our research, sorting out handbooks, visas, policies and content for the AClass Website when it finally gets up and running. our website domain name will be
www.aclassenglish.com I will let everyone know when we go live so you can give us your feedback!!!

Meanwhile I am off home before hitting a spinning class at the gym.
